Control Your Energy Costs with Lighting Controls

Is the demand for energy-saving lighting controls growing among building owners and facility managers?

“Absolutely,” says Paramont EO commercial lighting manager Scott Shellberg. “Paramont is seeing a lot of customer interest, particularly in simple controls like sensors. Lighting controls reduce energy use and costs—it’s simple.”   View more…

So, start simple!

Sensors: The Savings are Automatic
As a building owner or facility pro, how often have you walked down a hallway past well-lit—but unoccupied—offices? Or a large warehouse with ceiling lights burning, where one worker on a forklift is working in aisle three, but the rest of the aisles are empty?

Shellberg, says, “You’re burning money! Occupancy sensors make sense.”

Occupancy sensors detect motion or lack of motion. These sensors automatically shut off lights in unoccupied offices, stairwells, hallways, specialty rooms or warehouse aisles, instantly turning lights back on when motion is sensed. Exterior security light photosensors can be set at 50 percent, switching to 100 percent when motion is sensed. Typical energy cost savings: 25-50 percent. Payback: 2 years or less.

Dimming for a Brighter Bottom Line

Wall-mounted or hand-held remote dimmers allow employees to control the light level in their work spaces to meet their preferences. Numerous studies have shown that, given control, most employees prefer less than full light. Automated dimming based on available daylight is also an energy-cost savings strategy. Typical energy cost savings: 15-30 percent. Payback: 2-4 years.

Let Paramont EO Lighten Your Energy Load

“Many people think their utility bill is a fixed cost, but it’s not,” says Shellberg. “Energy efficiency measures like sensors and dimming can generate long-term, energy-cost savings that drop directly to the bottom line.”
